Education for children and youth should be exceptional. Let’s redefine what makes a person smart. Childhood education should be much more than memorizing facts and drilling skills to excel at some standardized test. De-emphasize testing and college and refocus educational priorities on acquisition of life skills and social skills that will help youth become self-sufficient and valued participants in their community.
Learning should be a life-long endeavor. Encourage adults to continue to stretch their minds and acquire new knowledge, new skills for vocation and for personal fulfillment.
Celebrate spirituality of all kinds. Some people choose religion and devotional faith. Some people find meaning and beauty in Nature, music, art or science. Some people practice mediation alone or in groups. Others find spiritual enlightenment from psychoactive plants. Encourage people to participate, to express themselves and not be only spectators. Everyone has his/her unique talent and gift. Encourage each person to find what that is and to celebrate it.
